Fraudsters who pretend to be from the Financial Services Tribunal are making phone calls to trick people into disclosing personal information.
The automated caller may ask for you by name and then attempt to transfer you to an agent. The automated caller will then say that no agents are available and provide you with a phone number to call back.
If you get a call like this, it is fraud. Hang up right away. This is a phishing scam where people are tricked into providing personal information to be later used fraudulently. Never share your personal information or send any money.
If you have received one of these calls, you can contact the Financial Services Tribunal to determine its legitimacy by calling the phone number on our homepage.
If you think you have given money or information to a fraudster, call your local police.
If you want to report the call, contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or visit their website: Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
